KCETB Students awarded prestigious All-Ireland Scholarships

A huge congratulations to our former students Tomás Ó hÓldáin, of Coláiste Pobal Osraí, Thomas Malone of Borris College and Max O’ Keeffe of Scoil Aireagail who were each awarded a prestigious All-Ireland Scholarship for outstanding Leaving Certificate results in 2025.

All students recently attended a special ceremony at the University Concert Hall, University of Limerick, recognising outstanding academic achievement.

Thomas Malone of Borris College, Max O’ Keeffe of Scoil Aireagail and Tomás Ó hÓldáin, of Coláiste Pobal Osraí,. Pictured with their students are Deputy Principal at Coláiste Pobal Osraí Siona Nic Eoin, Principal at Borris College Dr Pat Coffey and Principal at Scoil Airegail Helen Mctighe.

Each year, just 125 students are selected from across the entire island of Ireland for this scholarship, making this an incredible accomplishment.

In attendance at the ceremony was All Ireland Scholarships Sponsor, JP McManus, Guest of Honour and Double Olympic Champion, Kellie Harrington, Deputy Willie O’Dea TD, and Head of the Skills and Education Group for the Department for the Economy NI, Louise Watson, as well as family, friends and school principals and deputy principals.

Speaking from Scoil Aireagail, Principal Helen McTighe said: “As Principal of Scoil Aireagail, I am immensely proud to see three outstanding past students (2025) from KCETB represented at the All Ireland Scholarship, supported by the JP McManus Trust. It is wonderful to see the diversity of what they have gone on to study, from English and Film in TCD to Engineering in UL, representing the breadth of talent, ambition, and opportunity fostered within our school communities. This remarkable achievement is a testament not only to their dedication and hard work, but also to the commitment of our teachers, families, and wider school communities in supporting excellence. It is a moment of great pride for our schools and an inspiration for all our students to strive for their very best.”

Cathnia Ó Muircheartaigh, Príomhoide at Coláiste Pobal Osraí siad, “Comhghairdeas ó chroí le Tomás Ó hÓldáin a bronnadh scoláireacht air an Satharn seo caite. Táimid fíor-bhródúil as an éacht seo, agus guímid gach rath ar Thomás ina chuid staidéir!”

Pat Coffey, Principal at Borris College said, “We are extremely proud of Thomas and of all our students here in Borris College who continue to strive for excellence every day!”.
