KCETB has been accepted by the European Commission to join the EU Pact for Skills
Joining the EU Pact for Skills is an important milestone for KCETB, and we are proud to be the first Education and Training Board in Ireland to sign the Pact for Skills Charter and make a specific commitment on behalf of our organisation. Becoming a member strengthens our capacity to deliver high‑quality education and training that meets the evolving needs of learners, communities, and industry. The Pact provides access to EU‑wide expertise on upskilling and reskilling needs, helping us anticipate future skill demands and respond effectively to the challenges of the green and digital transitions. Through the Pact’s Networking Hub, KCETB can now connect with partner organisations across Europe, enabling deeper collaboration, shared innovation, and stronger pathways for learners and employers alike. The Pact also offers valuable guidance on EU and national funding opportunities, supporting our ongoing investment in modern facilities and future‑focused training provision. Furthermore, the Pact’s commitment to lifelong learning, equality of opportunity, and high‑quality vocational education aligns directly with KCETB’s mission and strategic goals to deliver impactful, inclusive, and community‑centred education across Kilkenny and Carlow.
By signing the Pact for Skills Charter and making a formal commitment, KCETB is taking a national leadership role in shaping the skills ecosystem and ensuring that learners and employers benefit from the very best in European knowledge, partnerships, and innovation.
Chief Executive Dr. Lindsay Malone said: “Joining the EU Pact for Skills is an important milestone for KCETB as we continue to strengthen the quality, impact and ambition of our education and training services. The Pact gives us access to invaluable EU‑wide expertise on emerging upskilling and reskilling needs, particularly as our communities navigate the green and digital transitions. It also opens the door to new partnerships, shared innovation, and guidance on future funding opportunities—supports that enhance our ability to deliver inclusive, high‑quality learning pathways for every learner across Kilkenny and Carlow. By aligning with the Pact’s vision for lifelong learning and equal opportunity, we are reinforcing our commitment to building a skilled, resilient and future‑ready region.”
Director of Further Education and Training at KCETB Martha Bolger said, “Joining the EU Pact for Skills represents a significant opportunity for our Further Education and Training service. The Pact provides access to vital EU‑wide knowledge on upskilling and reskilling needs, helping us ensure our programmes remain responsive to the demands of the green and digital transitions. Through its Networking and Guidance Hubs, we can build stronger partnerships, share best practice, and connect with funding opportunities that support the continued development of high‑quality, inclusive training for learners across Kilkenny and Carlow. This aligns directly with our strategic commitment to delivering impactful education, strengthening community pathways, and supporting every learner to reach their full potential.”
