Community Education

Community education is a process of learning and change. It takes place within the community and is based on the needs of individuals and their communities. It provides flexible, learning options for people in their own local areas.

Local Training Initiatives (LTI)

The LTI programme is focused on addressing the training needs of economically, socially, geographically or educationally disadvantaged learners, primarily 18 - 35 years of age, with no formal qualifications or incomplete secondary level qualifications.

Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB) is a leading provider of education and training in the south east, enabling 18,000 annual learners to reach their potential by offering a series of education pathways in schools, colleges, training centres and community settings. Our remit includes the management and operation of 13 post-primary schools, two colleges of further education and training, an extensive range of adult and community education services across Kilkenny and Carlow, the co-ordination of youth services, and the promotion of music education through Music Generation. We employ 1,377 people and operate an annual budget of over €80million. Our tagline is Flourish through learning and our core belief is that learning has the power to change lives and build communities.
