VTOS Kilkenny graduates celebrate in style

(27 November, 2023) – The Ormonde Hotel was a fitting venue last week for the VTOS (Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme) Kilkenny graduates of 2022/23 to celebrate their awards.

 

Over 50 participants received awards in a wide range of disciplines, including Art, Craft & Design, Furniture Design, Information Processing and eBusiness.  It was an occasion to treasure for the participants and their families.  Awards presented included attendance awards, QQI Awards and City & Guilds Certificates.

VTOS Kilkenny Co-Ordinator Geraldine Moran was MC for the occasion and congratulated all participants on their wonderful achievements.  Geraldine thanked Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB), through its Adult Education Service,  for its ongoing support for the VTOS programme.   Geraldine paid tribute to KCETB Chief Executive Eileen Curtis, Director of FET Martha Bolger and Adult Education Officer Bernadette O Rourke for their promotion and endorsement of the scheme. Geraldine also thanked Orla Reddy and her team of guidance counsellors for their unwavering support for the VTOS programme and Joan Howley for her inspiring work with all the participants.

 

In a speech to the awardees and their families, Bernadette O’ Rourke lauded all the participants on their achievements and spoke about the high-quality teaching and learning provided in the VTOS Kilkenny centre.  She reminded the participants that the certificates they received were a tremendous endorsement of their efforts and the high expectations and aspirations that the centre held for them.  Bernadette paid tribute to all of the teaching staff under the leadership of the Geraldine Moran who encouraged the learners to achieve their full potential.

Closing the awards ceremony Geraldine Moran expressed her thanks to everybody who ensured that the night was a success.  She thanked Charlotte Beattie VTOS Secretary for her administrative support and Sean Lawless for organising the event and his technical support.  The work of Fiona Phelan, Alma Feeley and Mary Roache was also acknowledged.   Following the ceremony, participants and their families celebrated in style with refreshments in the Ormonde hotel.
