FET Training Solutions for Business works with local businesses, facilitating them in accessing government-funded training to upskill their employees in order to meet the needs of ever-changing workplaces.
These supports are provided under the following initiatives: Skills to Advance; Skills for Work; Traineeships; Apprenticeships.
Skills to Advance upskills SME employees across Carlow and Kilkenny. It supports the identification of employee training needs and the delivery of government-funded, accredited training in ways that accommodate business and work schedules.
Skills for Work provides flexible training for full and part-time employees with lower skill levels to enhance their skills so they can participate more fully in the workplace. Examples of Skills for Work training include English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and digital literacy programmes.
The EXPLORE initiative is a nationally-funded programme aimed at supporting those in employment, particularly those working in the manufacturing sector. The EXPLORE initiative assists both employers and employees in building resilience in times of change, engages learners at the beginning of a lifelong learning experience, and enhances digital skills. This pre-development programme offers the opportunity to develop digital skills for the workplace and supports improved employee engagement and continuing professional development. EXPLORE also supports health and wellbeing in the workplace. The programme is run in conjunction with the Regional Skills South East (regionalskills.ie).
eCollege is a leading learning platform that delivers online training courses in business, project management, information technology, graphic design, web design, digital marketing, software development and basic computer literacy for people in employment. These self-directed, accredited courses allowing for flexible learning.
A traineeship is a full-time occupational skills development training model, designed to provide flexible training solutions to meet the needs of business and industry. A traineeship is sufficiently flexible to provide training benefits within a broad range of sectors, as well as assisting companies of varying size, from small local businesses to multi-national companies, to address their respective skill requirements.
Apprenticeships aim to provide learners with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to perform effectively and to respond to the needs of new techniques and technologies in their occupation. Apprenticeships also provides industry with employees who have acquired mastery over the skills and competences relevant to their occupation.
