Students take Centre Stage at KCETB\u00a0Student\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0Year\u00a0Awards<\/strong><\/h2>\n

13 Students Awarded across Kilkenny and Carlow schools<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Deir\u00a0KCETB\u00a0Student\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0Year\u00a0Awards<\/em>\u00a0took place at\u00a0the\u00a0Woodford Dolmen Hotel on Friday (4 Sept) afternoon. Thirteen\u00a0students, each\u00a0of\u00a0whom have made a difference to\u00a0their school community, were awarded for\u00a0their respective post-primary schools in counties Kilkenny and Carlow.<\/p>\n

Tagann\u00a0Student\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0Year\u00a0Awards<\/em>\u00a0recognises personal and academic achievement. It is awarded to\u00a0the\u00a0student\u00a0who has contributed to\u00a0their school in a meaningful way during\u00a0their time in post-primary education. It recognises skills and talents; dedication and determination; academic achievements; extra-curricular activities; generosity\u00a0of\u00a0spirit; kindness to others; willingness to take an active part in school life; and\u00a0the\u00a0student\u2019s capacity to make a difference to\u00a0their school community.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0special honour was bestowed on thirteen\u00a0students who each received a specially commissioned silver medal.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the students gathered on Friday afternoon Dr. Pauline Egan, Director of Schools at KCETB said:\u00a0\u201cThis celebration has recognised all that you have achieved. You have already accomplished so much through your hard work, resilience, talent, and commitment, and you should be incredibly proud of yourselves. But as impressive as your achievements are, they are only the beginning. Each of you has unique gifts, ambitions, and potential, and we have no doubt that you will continue to achieve great things as you make your way into the world. Wherever life takes you next, carry with you the confidence to embrace opportunities, the courage to face challenges, and the belief that you can make a real difference.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

School principals praised\u00a0their\u00a0student\u2019s valued and varied achievements,\u00a0the\u00a0contribution\u00a0they made during\u00a0their time in secondary school and\u00a0the\u00a0leadership\u00a0they showed. As chairperson\u00a0of\u00a0KCETB Board, Cllr Andrea Dalton presented\u00a0the\u00a0students with\u00a0their medals, while closing the evening was KCETB Chief Executive Dr. Lindsay Malone who congratulated each one\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0students on\u00a0their remarkable achievements over\u00a0their time at school encouraging students to take chances in life, that they will have many choices to make in their lifetime but through chances life happens.<\/p>\n
