\u201cA huge success\u201d. That\u2019s the feedback on One Book One Film for All, <\/em>the family learning project conceived and organised last month by Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB) in collaboration with Cartoon Saloon.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The initiative, that used the Cartoon Saloon book and movie WolfWalkers<\/em> as a family learning initiative with a programme of supporting activities in schools, adult learning centres, family resource centres and libraries across Kilkenny and Carlow, proved to be a big success.<\/p>\n

The numbers speak for themselves. \u00a01,500 educational packs were utilised by 20 schools across Kilkenny and Carlow. 850 learners attended the One Book One Film<\/em> launch. 1,200 watched the movie at the Watergate Theatre Kilkenny and Delta Centre, Carlow. More than 300 scavenger hunt entries were received. 200 pieces of writing and art went on display at Rothe House and Visual Carlow. 60 families participated in animation workshops. And 80 teams, in eight separate venues across Kilkenny and Carlow, \u00a0participated in the live quiz, WolfWalkers on the Wireless<\/em>, in conjunction with KCLR96FM.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A prizegiving ceremony took place at St. Canice\u2019s Cathedral last week at which the Kilkenny and Carlow winners of WolfWalkers on the Wireless<\/em>\u00a0 were awarded. Cartoon Saloon co-founder Tomm Moore attended the event, met the winners and thanked everyone for their involvement in the project which, he said, was \u201c an incredibly initiative and one I was proud to be involved in\u201d.<\/p>\n

KCETB Chief Executive Eileen Curtis presented some of the prizes and thanked the organisers, parents, students and home school liaison coordinators who were involved in the initiative.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone in the Adult Literacy Service in KCETB worked\u00a0 very hard on this project and we would like to thank all our partners in schools, learning centres, and libraries who helped make One Book One Film For All<\/em> such a success. I would also like to thank Tomm Moore and the team at Cartoon Saloon for being great collaborators with us.\u00a0 Learning is easier when it is creative and fun and WolfWalkers was a fantastic conduit\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0to promote family learning\u201d, added Bernadette O\u2019Rourke.<\/p>\n
