Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB) this week held a special event for retired employees to acknowledge their service and thank them for their hard work and dedication in providing education services to the Kilkenny and Carlow region.<\/p>\n
What is normally an annual event was deferred due to the pandemic so this week\u2019s ceremony, which took place in the Woodford Dolmen Hotel, included retirees from 2020 onwards who were joined by family and colleagues for the occasion.<\/p>\n
School principals, deputy principals and centre managers gave heart-felt citations outlining the stellar contributions of their former colleagues who were congratulated and presented with a piece of Kilkenny Crystal by KCETB Chairperson Cllr Fergal Browne, who was undertaking one of his first official duties<\/p>\n
You have helped shape student\u2019s lives for the better<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
KCETB Chief Executive Eileen Curtis thanked all of the retirees for their dedication and service.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cEach one of you has played a key role in our organisation and has left an indelible imprint upon your school or centre. You have earned the right to retire from the demands of working life, from your regular commute and from your early morning alarm. Your hard work over the years has touched and shaped the lives of many \u2013 from young people to adults \u2013 and often at critical times in their lives\u201d, she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cKCETB is first and foremost a learning organisation. I firmly believe that it is a privilege to do the work that we do and to help shape the lives of young people and adults as they set out on different paths in life and flourish through learning. You have helped shape student\u2019s lives for the better, and of that you should be very proud\u201d, she added.<\/p>\n

Employing 1,377 people, Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB) is a leading provider of education and training in the south east, enabling 15,000 annual learners to reach their potential by offering education pathways in schools, colleges, training centres and community settings. KCETB\u2019s remit includes the management and operation of 13 post-primary schools, two colleges of further education and training, an extensive range of adult and community education services across Kilkenny and Carlow, the co-ordination of youth services, and the promotion of music education through Music Generation<\/em>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
